Buying a phone online in the UAE: a checklist
VAT, tax invoices, warranty, delivery checks and safe payment: what to look for before you pay.
Buying a phone online is fast and often cheaper, as long as the store is clear about what you get. Here is what to check, and how First Souq handles each point. 1. The price includes VAT In the UAE, prices shown to consumers should include 5% VAT. Ours do, and the delivery fee appears before you pay. 2. You get a tax invoice Keep it: you need it for warranty claims and resale. Every First Souq order comes with a tax invoice you can download from My Orders. 3. Condition, version and warranty are written down New, renewed or used; International or Middle East; manufacturer or seller warranty. If the listing does not say it, ask before you buy. 4. There is a clear return policy Look for the number of days, the conditions and who pays return shipping when an item is faulty. Ours is on the Returns page . 5. Payment is secure Pay on a page that starts with https, through a licensed payment provider. Never transfer money to a personal account for a phone you have not received. 6. Check the parcel on delivery Look at the box before you sign. If it is damaged or opened, tell the courier and contact the store within 48 hours with photos. Questions before you order?
